Ft. Oglethorpe is home to an extensive walking and multi-use trail system that is truly beautiful! You can start anywhere on the trails, but a favorite starting point is Gilbert-Stephenson City Park, where there is usually plenty of parking. About the cats you see on the trails: They are fed every day by a number of people, they're all spayed or neutered, and while they are wild cats, they're also harmless. A lot of people care about them, so be nice to them if you see them. Note how healthy their coats look and you'll know they're cared for.

April 16, 2012: Last night I walked the trails from the fire station to Walgreens and back again. I can't emphaisze enough how beautiful they are! Besides the 12-foot wide trails, the scenery is lush and peaceful -- trees, rose bushes, a long, meandering stream, birds, bullfrogs (!) -- and neighbors. More and more people are discovering this gem in Fort Oglethorpe. My leisurely but steady walk took about an hour. It passed through the playground and past city hall. Try it -- you'll like it! You'll love it! - Tamara/FortOGeorgia.com
