Dear Friends,

Most of you know that we have struggled to keep Books Never-Ending open for 15 years now. But years of challenges and a tough economy have finally taken their toll. Short of a miracle, we will not be able to remain open. We must generate tens of thousands of dollars as soon as possible to pay off looming debt.

Running a local, independent bookstore is something you do as much for the love of it as to try to make a living. Because we trade books, and because we can’t do the volume of chain stores and the big online sellers, our profit margin is fairly small. So we have struggled, though it’s been a struggle of love.
 
We need a bookstore in our area! Last week I began sharing our situation with some of our customers. Their responses have been overwhelming. Without exception, they have expressed disappointment and dread, and have encouraged us to find a way to continue. We’ve been given suggestions for getting the word out to others, and we’ve received small and large donations of cash, books, unused credit, and offers of help. The kindness and generosity of these customers has demonstrated how much they want to see Books Never-Ending survive.

We will stay open as long as we can, but, until that “miracle” happens, we must, sadly, begin to liquidate our stock in hopes of raising enough cash to settle with our creditors. 
 
We have a limited collection of books at a 10% discount. Every other book in the store, new or used, will be discounted 20% to 50% (or more.)  We must sell as much as we can as quickly as we can.

Until further notice we will continue to accept book trade-ins on a very limited basis. If you plan to use any existing trade credit, please do so soon.

The thought of closing, of never seeing our many book-loving friends again, is heartbreaking, but we have no choice. Please come in and see what we have that you could use for yourself or as gifts for others. As a reminder, we are only accepting cash or checks (no debit cards or credit cards). Also, we will once again be open from 10am-6pm Monday through Saturday.
